Printing in Publish
You can publish your publication manually at any time, running the export and print process to create a single document in any of the publication outputs with specific slicer options selected. You might want to do this to preview the document as it will be when it is distributed to your users. This allows you to check that your data reads correctly, your branding follows the corporate styles, and your content is clear and well-structured.
The following video provides an overview of the printing process:
To print and export your publication without distributing or scheduling it, click the Print Publication button (orange highlight below) or the print and export button (red arrow below).
The print dialog matches most of the other printing dialogs and functionality throughout the app, as described here.
If you have any slicers included in your report design, you can select the relevant slice of data you wish to print. The slice choices appear at the top of the dialog (green arrow above).
Bookmarks in PDF Documents
The bookmark feature allows users to quickly navigate and access specific sections or pages within a PDF document. Bookmarks can be created in the Publish document by defining text as a header using the header function.
For The PDF output type, select the bookmark option.
The bookmark will appear in the bookmarks panel in the PDF document.
Link-Back
The Link-back feature enables direct URL loading for data discoveries in exported publications. When Link-back is enabled, the user can click on any discovery in the exported report in order to load it in the viewer.
Any slicers or filters saved to the discovery (both from Discover and from Publish) will automatically be loaded via external parameterization.
Print an Item with Slicers
For each of the slicers used in your publication, you need to pick the value that should be selected when the document is built. For example, selecting Mexico from the countries slicer when building a document for your Mexican team. It is important to note that you can only select one value for each of the slicers.
Note: If the slicer is attached to a mini-tab container with conditional display, the slicer selection will determine which tab to render.
